For the tenth consecutive year, the Forum of Slavic Cultures has awarded the ŽIVA Awards to the best Slavic museums, with the Museum of Recent History Celje being among the recipients.
The announcement of the ŽIVA Awards took place at the end of September 2024 during the international conference at the ETAR Regional Ethnographic Open-Air Museum in Gabrovo, Bulgaria. Among 20 nominated museums from 10 countries, our museum received a special award for sustainability and the preservation of heritage for its work with Photo house Pelikan.
The ŽIVA Award is not only intended to recognize cultural heritage and honour the achievements of the best museum practices in Slavic countries. It also represents a significant transnational cultural hub that promotes dialogue, communication, and collaboration in the protection of cultural and natural heritage, as well as in the promotion of museum collections, services, and education. The award is named after the Slavic goddess Živa, symbolizing the principles of life, beauty, vitality, and fertility.
During the museum’s presentation at the international conference, we premiered a brand-new documentary promotional film about Photo house Pelikan, which you can view at the following link (click).
